Teaching kids about their watershed…Inside and Out!

Want to bring the watershed into your classroom? We can work with you on an activity or lecture based on your needs. The Greenbrier River Watershed is currently partnered with Pocahontas High School, Eastern Middle School, Greenbrier Academy for Girls, Concord University, Marshall University, and New River Community and Technical College. We hope to further our outreach and partner with many more schools, 4H organizations, Boy and Girl Scout organizations, etc.

Spreading the word about environmental education is a fundamental component of the GRWA mission. Our overall goal is to connect people with their environment and increase watershed awareness throughout our region. GRWA has organized and conducted many outreach programs in our local schools, field trips to Lost World Caverns, community service projects, and public service meetings.

Through the hard work of our staff we have been able to offer a variety of educational programs including stream monitoring projects, herpetology classes, and local flora classes. Below are a few links to various projects we have been a part of throughout the past years. To learn more about what you can do in order to protect and preserve our water resources contact the Greenbrier River Watershed. GRWA can construct the perfect project for your classroom.
